5000 MILES FOR JANET
Some of you may not know but at the beginning of lockdown, my Mother-in-Law, Janet, sadly passed away. She had developed a “one in a million” illness, a rare, random, aggressive degenerative disease that took her from us within the space of a month, she died on 27th March 2020. Janet’s time in hospital was difficult due to Covid 19 and all that entailed. Janet loved our family cafe, she was often in the kitchen, helping with the washing up and keeping us all on our toes with her quick wit and humour! She loved seeing all the customers and would often be found chatting away to everyone, maybe you will have been accosted by her as she bustled around, despite her being 78 years young!? Anyway, in her memory and to mark what we hope will be the last month before we re-open the cafe (open for takeaways from 4th July!) we have embarked on a challenge to raise funds for 2 charities close to our hearts. A breast cancer one and St Elizabeth Hospice who support the Beccles Hospital palliative care unit. Please have a read of our pages and if you feel able to donate, even just a little, please do so, it would mean a great deal to the whole café team and to our family. Coronavirus has caused many fund raising activities to be cancelled or postponed but the problems that these charities are helping to combat are still happening every day. Thank you for reading this and look forward to seeing you all in person very soon... not long now!
